


Accommodation and services provided at the Laurels
The Laurels, is situated in its own grounds in a quiet tree lined road, under the supervision of Kathleen Bums and Wilson Briggs. It is an exclusive residence for anyone who is seeking a secure, friendly and truly caring environment.
The Laurels is conveniently situated near St James park, St James Church, two bowling greens and shopping centre all within 5-10 minutes walk.
The accommodation is furnished and equipped to a high standard ensuring your comfort and privacy, and to meet your assessed needs. The Laurels has five attractive and comfortable lounges to choose from.
All bedrooms are furnished to a high standard and are tastefully decorated. All of the bedrooms have an on-suit toilet and hand basin or an on-suit bathroom. Most of the bedrooms are on the ground floor. Those which are on the first floor have access via a lift. Nurse call systems are next to the beds and in the toilets in case assistance is required. Each bedroom has a comfortable hydraulic bed to facilitate an easier move in and out of it. A private telephone line can be installed and you are welcome to bring your own furniture. Bedrooms can be locked and if you wish to administer your own medication, then a secure storage system can be fitted discreetly into your bedroom.
The bathrooms are equipped with specialists baths and showers and staff are at hand to help you if you need assistance.
The Laurels provides disability equipment to suit individual needs and has environmental adaptations in order to maximise your independence. All bedrooms have The Laurels safety features include thermostatic radiators, smoke detectors and handrails.
The Laurels offers 24 hour care. Once residing in the Laurels, you will be allocated a key worker. This is an experienced senior care worker who has special responsibility for your personal and individual needs, although all care workers will be there to help cater for all everyday needs.
Fresh food is considered an important feature at the Laurels, all meals are home cooked and meticulously prepared in a most up to date, well organised kitchen, where special diets are catered for. Meals can be served in the dinning rooms or if you prefer your own room.
There is a hairdresser who calls to offer services, both to ladies and gentlemen. We also have regular visits from opticians, chiropodists, district and specialist nurses. You may register with the GP of your choice (ifthe GP is in agreement).
The Laurels own laundry will launder all garments free of charge, alternative arrangements must be made for dry cleaning.
The Laurels offers flexible and varied leisure and recreational activities to meet your expectations and preferences. We arrange outings with you, the staff and relatives using transport which has a disabled lift. The outings include visits to Morcombe to see the shows, local exhibitions, the ostridge centre, shows, fates, garden centres, and museums. Other leisure and recreational activities include massage, bowls, bingo, beetle drive, numerous craft activities, puzzle afternoons and regular social events.
